The RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) has a broad spectrum of subjects, from engineering to humanities. We actively direct our research towards innovation, both in the subject disciplines and interdisciplinary. In doing so, we allow ourselves to be measured against the highest national and international standards, the further development of which we ourselves drive forward. In basic research, we are active in four Transregional SFBs and three Research Training Groups, among others. Important topics of application-oriented research are worked on in close cooperation with the ten research institutes at the Kaiserslautern site.
The RPTU offers its researchers comprehensive support and state-of-the-art research infrastructure at both locations. It is characterized by a lively inter-site cooperation and also offers a pleasant working and living environment.
RPTU's research strategy focuses on the following profile lines:

  • Sustainable Development and Preservation of the Basics of Life Interactions of Light, Spin and Matter
  • Bioanalytics, Membrane and Systems Biology in the Context of Cellular Adaptation Strategies
  • High-Performance Materials and Designs for Innovative Products
  • Mathematical Modelling, Algorithms and Simulation of Complex Systems
  • Social and Digital Transformations
  • Analysis and Design of Educational Processes

The Rhineland-Palatinate University of Technology Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) offers a wide range of subjects, from engineering to the humanities. • Analysis and design of educational processes

But we also grant our researchers creative freedom for their work outside these research fields with a high interdisciplinary orientation.
Our young researchers also benefit from the extensive support services offered by the TU-Nachwuchsring and ZGAPL, which are specially designed to meet their specific needs.
As a partner of the University Network of the Greater Region (UniGR) and with numerous strategic university partnerships, all doors are open to our researchers on an international level for possible collaborations.
The Department for Research and the Department for Career Development and Appointments are the central service points for national and international third-party funding of research, the support of young scientists as well as the cooperation in the university networks.
Around the transfer of ideas, knowledge and technology into society, the RPTU's Transfer, Innovation and Sustainability Unit and the Start-up Office support them.
